Flying improving in the US? Give me a break.
The Wall Street Journal had an article recently about how flying is improving that left me scratching my head.
Although they claim that the data supports this assertion, anecdotal evidence (e.g. talking to other consultants) says just the opposite: They all suck. A little perspective may help here. The Economist (in a recent article on the proposed merger between US Airways & American Airlines) had a great quote which I think sums up the situation perfectly:
Skytrax, an influential rater of airlines, gives just three stars out of five to America’s main carriers, putting them on a par with Papua New Guinea’s national airline, Air Niugini.
Welcome to hell.

airlines suck

There is an old saying by M&A guys….putting 2 crummy companies together does not create a good company, it only creates a bigger crummy company. The airlines would do well to keep that in mind.
Be well.
