Crappy decks sell more?
Most consultants are deck snobs. (I know, I am one for sure.) They worry about things that normal people (civilians) don’t even care about – alignments, font consistency, message flow, relevance, bullet alignment, color schemes etc. Well, new research shows that we may be wasting our time. An article in HBR basically claimed that having harder to read fonts actually improved comprehension.
It’s all becoming clear to me now. I now understand the far reaching strategy of those that purposely put in slides with all colors of the rainbow, cut and paste completely irrelevant slides, have no care for any formatting, use clip art and basically make their decks look like it was done by a two year old. How silly of me to think that presentation matters.
