Digital dominance: Trip Advisor worth more than most hotel groups

Consultants inevitably spend a lot of time in hotels. So I thought I might it interesting to share a little article that I read about the history of hotels in the Economist. The article is full of interesting titbits: There are approximately 7.5m rooms available in the world (in branded chains), the five biggest hotel loyalty schemes claim about 200m members, Apple studied the Four Seasons when planning their stores etc. However, it was this little gem that I did not expect:

The website [TripAdvisor] is now worth more than all but two of the big hotel groups

Wow.
